The Building Block Organizer

The Built-In Headers, Footers, Text Boxes and AutoText are Building Blocks.

 

Microsoft Word gathers all of the Building Blocks into an extensive table called the Building Block Organizer.

 

1. Try It: Organize Building Blocks

Go to Insert ->Text->Quick Parts.

Select Building Block Organizer.

 

What Do You See? There should be a list of Building Blocks: Built-in parts (Headers, Footers, Page Numbers) as well as the two new Quick Parts we just added.

At the top of the list are the column headers. You can sort the Building Blocks by Name, Gallery, or Category. Click on Name, and the list will be sorted alphabetically A-Z.
